Growing flowers

WOW is the word I will be using to describe my feelings towards the construction project today. A group of participants spent their day breaking rocks, and shoveling dirt. Foundation for the stairs was built today, to make it easier for the residents of this hill to come up and down. I watched as Maria, a lady who lives on this tree, take advantage of the construction, an hour into it. She got her shopping bag, walked down with more ease, stepped onto the sunken dirt platforms, and got to the bottom and went away on a bus.

SIA also implemented a day care for children of ages 2 to 6. Parents can go to work with ease and leave their child in an educational environment. This might create opportunities for their older siblings as well who would usually be left in charge of their little brother or sister all day at home. Both the children get to spend their day doing activities, learning English and improving their skills. TheYouth in action day camp, and the day care provide a perfect harmony for the families of Pacifico.

I’ll leave you with a quote that I really like.

Your mind is a garden. Your thoughts are the seeds. You can grow flowers or you can grow weeds.”

It is really important for the participants to interact with these young minds with the up most respect, love and care so their minds can be filled with beautiful thoughts. After getting to know some of them, I don’t think that will be a problem.
