My mother once wrote to me in a letter, “Never accept anything but the best from this world, but also never forget the simplicity of it.” This quote provokes my thoughts because it motivates me to reach the sky, while keeping my feet on the ground. Rome wasn’t built in a day, it takes time for something great to take place.
Today, the group built their first garbage post for the community. Many hours were spent perfecting the post, cutting the lumber, and hammering everything together. At the end of the day, we had one sturdy piece of art.
The simplicity of this project made me think about how easy it is to make an impact, as long as you do it with an open heart and dedication. Why do we like to complicate things in life? Simplicity lies in a child’s smile while they are playing with you. Simplicity lies in a mother’s enthusiasm while making a handbag out of scratch. And there is simplicity in the time we spend in the community. Do not forget about the simple things life has to offer.
Till tomorrow, Buenas noches.
